Looking good. Now you can focus on tweaking MadVR
yehā¦
actually I donāt have much to tune
I only set luminance to 60 (thatās what I got when calibration)
and disable all the tradeoff for quality
seems ok so far.
actually have concern on projector calibration.
I found that the smooth motion doesnāt work on madvr113.
do you know if we should use latest?
what actually the difference between latest and 113?
The latest has various tweaks Madshi has made since 2021, which are in their commercial product - Envy. However after 113, it doesnāt work with Videoprocessor. There are ways to install 113 and the latest on the same PC, but you have to read the thread on AVSForum. I havenāt done it. I read somewhere that if you want smooth motion, try 112 as itās broken on 113
I am trying latest for now (not 113)
and seems everything is still working with videoprocessor
I smooth everything to 60hz
itās just the HDR mapping can only enter 100 at least , and seems not much detail I can tune for the tone mapping.
Other than that , I donāt see any difference.
may be I will keep using it for a while.
Has anyone had any issues using the BM Quad HDMI recorder in their 4x lane on their mobo, with just 1 stream of 4k@60fps being processed by MadVR+VP?
As mentioned by someone above, the recommended lane assignment for the BM Quad is 8x lanes, but most motherboards donāt have that ability unless you go 8x/8x, instead of 16x/4x.
Iām get chirping sounds from my PC only when I try and do 4K@60 and am trying to figure out whyā¦
4K60 8 bit might work, but probably nothing higher due to bandwidth
Thanks! I did alot of testing today, and successfully got 4k@60 10/12 bit working with a 4x lane. Tested with Gemini Man.
Good news, finally someone tried the quad
may I know which motherboard and GPU are you using ?
Iām using a MSI 4090 Gaming Trio X, and their MSI z790 Carbon wifi mobo. The 4090 has full 16x lanes, while the BM Quad has 4x lanes. Which works for my single stream in for madVR+VP.
Only way to get 8x lanes seems to be going back to older motherboards from a few years ago as I havenāt found a current gen that will do itā¦
Some of the Intel 690 motherboards seem to be able to do it, but they are expensive and old. Seems that everything new maxes out at 4x. Good news that the BM Quad runs on a 4x slot with one stream at 4K/60 10/12bit. If only it were not S$700-800.
So far, quite happy with the BM Mini, but quite annoying when the Firestick 4K updates its OS and resets to 4K/60 when I need 4K/29. However, given you have a 4090, might as well go the whole hog.
I am running 4090 with BM mini too.
Quite annoying when it switches to 4k60
so I use HDfury to downscale 4k60 to 1080p60
and I can fix the refresh rate on the screen
Thatās a good solution. I have the 2nd output of my Vertex2 connected to another input of the projector, so I switch to that input, bypassing the MadVR HTPC to fix the resolution. However, I like your solution and will set the HDFury like yours unless I watch Gemeni Man
I find the cost of the 4090 staggering, but then Iām only using the HTPC for MadVR and not gaming
I wanted to have another HDMI too
but I only have 1 long cable from hdfury to my projector
and I donāt want to setup another one.
it causes lot of time to re wire those things

I have plan to build a htpc for improve a movie picture from zidoo and Apple TV.
is 3060 enough for madvr with 3d lut calibrate? Or I should go to 3060ti or 3070.
3060 is more than enough for 4K movies unless you also want to do VR on your PC.
Quick question for the group, who also have a Zidoo (Z9X in my setup).
Can you please load up a HD movie, and pause on a sharp shot with a closeup of a face, and then open VideoProcessor with madvr and tell me if itās the same or softer in VP?
I was building my madvr 1080 profile setting and sending Armageddon from my Z9X to VP+madvr, and no matter what I tried VP was much softer than pass-through.
I thought I could enhance and build upon the Z9X signal, but in this case VP was too soft, even with NGU Sharp.
Hope someone can test on their end so I can get to the bottom of thisā¦
Yes. Thatās what I am using, but you cannot use the more advanced options of MadVR, which donāt make a major difference to picture quality. The 3060Ti is not much more than the 3060, and much more powerful, but I was simply looking for the cheapest reasonable rig.
Should not be the case. Can you post a screen shot of your Videoprocessor page. And also a shot of a page of a running 4K movie with diagnostics i.e., Ctrl-J while watching movie.
Also, when you play a movie directly from the HTPC using Kodi and MadVR, is it sharp? ie is the problem your MadVR setup or some issue with Videoprocessor
What is your hardware configuration?
Do you have the HDR flag set on MadVR? On the display side, check the color space and resolution in case MadVR is set to scaling. Is it 709? What display are you using?
Again. Shots of your CRTL J page and Videoprocessor will be useful
