LG Display (TV/Projector) Owner Thread

TIA.
Yes this PJ just like LG TV with all the built-in app very convenient, the HDMI 2.1 port with eARC works well with the OPPO HDMI 2.0 port ARC no delay on audio. YouTube never sound so good b4.
Bigger screen do make a difference, the phantom center “image” now nails dead center on the screen. Music playback also got good improvement without the TV screen behind the spks.

Yes the eARC works nicely, if the system or LG projector sees only one CEC device in the chain. Most often, the Display get confused when it “sees” multiple capable CEC devices activated in the chain/ same network. In the case when HD fury sits in between.

So if you have an avr , Xbox , PS5 etc that all does CEC and enabled, u might want to check the CEC settings on all source for a seamless eARC connectivity

In bro NGSK’s case, it is pretty straight forward, only one arc device which is Oppo 205 in the chain. The output of Oppo hdmi is connected directly to the LG AU810PB hdmi input that has eARC labelled, (backward compatible) which is the hdmi 2.1 port at hdmi 3. so eARC works flawlessly when using the built in native app like YouTube / Disney +/ Apple TV + / Netflix going straight to the Oppo 205.

Unfortunately the Oppo 205 doesn’t do Atmos, so 7.1 channel based audio works but object based audio like Atmos is not possible due to hardware limitation on the Oppo 205.

Also, if using the moshou hdmi 2.1 active cable, though signal flows from source to display, audio return channel still works on this cable

We have just finished venom, in Tekno3d… so damn good the sound and video . Atmos is quite good. The bass effect tracking Atmos channel is so solid. Really enjoyed it today on the system. Venoms voice from the centre is amazing, deep male heavy tone

The system is very very good now with the line array and video… very satisfied

Then came the Post credit scene! Damn nice into the spiderverse. I’ve watched this animation like 10x. First time seeing it on the laser. Stunning !

Very very good this laser projector! Absolutely stunning !

Update on the progress, finally completed “blackout” whole front halve of the room except the floor area. Big improvement on the PQ as I added on the “blackout” treatment, overall damn happy about the achievement. How it look after “blackout” treatment:

How the PQ looks currently:

Nice!

Very nice !! Haven’t unleashed its full potential yet… soon… I promise u, u will drool and u won’t miss the Lg OLED tv

In the meantime, quick update for LG AU810PB owners , in case you are using the built in streaming app

Wired speeds through its Ethernet ports are limited to 100mbps, so varies from 80-90mbps

On the contrary

Wireless speeds are 250-260mbps on average

So wireless is better! Don’t ask me why… a lot of the streaming devices and some TVs have their Ethernet ports capped at 100mbps and not using the gigabit ports, kinda disappointing but that’s what it is

Oh yes, and the cable matters usb to Ethernet adapter, doesn’t work on this projector. It works on the LG OLED tv

Meanwhile… some updates on LG OLED

No time to die, in dolby vision, looks absolutely stunning on the projector 135”. Very very good dolby vision, no horse run. Superb!

Very enjoyable!

Yes…No Time to Die is one of the top 5 lists of great 4K HDR presentations. It is indeed demo worthy.

Wow it is mighty impressive , dolby vision rulezzzzzz man !! Top notch video

Love it man. the centre channel is awesome on this movie, super good, crystal clear and nice

There was one scene which was really nice too. 2 fighter jets flew past from behind, in Atmos… the bass tracking nicely with the Atmos heights… new experience … whoosh from behind this one, fantastic experience . Bullet scenes were awesome too, nice midbass

A few explosion scenes jumping out from the seat type of effects too

Quite enjoyable … I enjoyed this bond movie

Frankly I’m NOT a Bond person before Daniel Craig’s protryal of 007. Pierce Brosnan is a joke imo. He made me hate 007 as a character. But came Craig’s era, I have to admit, ever since Casino Royale, a debut for Craig as the eponymous character, I was enthralled by the action sequence. The pristine transfer of the 4K presentation coupled with awesome Dolby Atmos sound track in all the bluray release had made Craig’s Bond an exception for me. I have bought all his bond movies in bluray.

That’s because before Craig those bond movies were poorly made, uninteresting cinematography and cheesy scripts. Never manage to sit through the whole movie. Craig era changed that.

Craig as bond was awesome ! Pierce Brosnan is … errrr lol . But I do like Sean Connery

Would love to see Tom hardy as the next bond … but we might have a lady bond ?

That lady was awesome, I think she will an awesome 007 lady Bond

I still have the Tekno3d version of all the bond movies… probably worth rewatching it again…I have actually forgotten who is spectre

That’s Ana De Armas. For the next Bond, I would love to see Tom Hiddleston (Loki) or Henry Cavill (Superman) taking on the role.

Question for you guys with the LG HU810 ie the consumer version of the AU810. I read on AVSForum that somebody called wmccann got into the HU810 service menu and managed to turn on Calman AutoCal. If that is possible, what is the best meter to get and how much is the AutoCal software?

Ya that’s possible, gotta turn on network function and autocal at the same time in the service menu

But not sure how it interacts with the LG autocal software, the guy who managed to turn it on in the service menu, didn’t seem to get a good calibration, not sure if that was solved eventually…

Ya u can turn those on, again not sure if warranty will be void when u go into the service menu using his methods… but it’s definitely possible…

The autocal software cost about usd145 today

Licenses tagged to single machine, so u can’t go round sharing the licenses unlike chromapure software

HDR meter from calman is good too, or u can use the one from this

We are using this, cost shared between 4 users, so once we are done with the calibration, we pass it on….

Is this the same hardware meter as the Calibrite Display Plus? Seems to sell for USD279 on Amazon. If so, what is the advantage of getting the package above?
