Ya I try to support as much as I can, if it’s locally available.
The last round I think 2 years plus back, I popped by bro NGSK place, so I told him, once the mindisp goes in, the antimode dual core will come out
I told him, once I load the BEQ for u, u will “ditch” the antimode dual core. oops , I mean u will sell the antimode. Wait … don’t they all mean the same thing ? Anyway, I said u will change and start loving the minidsp because of its versatility as an outboard EQ device and works well with BEQ…
Next day on XP forum… I saw that sale…
So ya, Don’t worry, the minidsp 2x4hd is very good, no chance for us to “ditch” it. Even if the lyngdorf now allows for connecting the actuators with the new firmware , I still find it cannot beat the convenience of the minidsp
I highly recommend getting the mindisp for subwoofer EQ and integration purposes
Finally after some planning and brainstorming, the crowson installation has been completed!
With the supervision of bro synthesis, I managed to get the base “planks” cut to size to replace the original sofa base
The sofa was flipped to have the original base pluck removed
Then, with the crowson postioned on top of the new base with the help of little wooden cubes to secure the crowson and preventing it from “moving” out of the base position (just a preventive measures as well as some reason at the end of this post).
Talk about precision measurement! Thanks again to bro synthesis for the idea!
The whole piece of new base are then screwed tightly to the sofa main structures itself for maximum transmission
Repeat these steps for the rest of the crowson (total 4 pieces of them)
The end result without crowson in place yet
Repeat the same for the Sorbothane Motion Isolator at the front row to the structure of the seats
Final result
With the new base installed, the over structure of the sofa frame improves tremendously and become more rigid! Maximum movement transmission from actuators as well!
The crowson snugged in perfectly into the new base
With installation like this, not only maximum transmission of actuators movement can be transmitted to the structures of the sofa seats, it also solved my challenge of pushing the whole sofa out to mop and/or vacuum the floors. I can still push the sofa out of usual position TOGETHER with the crowson! Very nice Indeed!
Really thanks to bro synthesis for his time on the brainstorming of ideas and all the supervision for this installation . Else, to have a platform as big as the sofa base will be a real challenge for me, which I dont have the luxury like what bro ronlidoq, ngsk, djblackfm and nivla have.
Now will be the dial in portion…which I’m still green and will be seeking some help from the bros who also had this toy with them.
Overall, am very pleased with the installation and result! Wife says it’s fun to sit in the helicopter in the “Lone Survivor” chapter 4 scene lol
Total cost of the 4 actuators? and do the sorbothane blocks come with them or have to buy extra?
It’s near 4k for this combo set. The sorbothane blocks comes with it.
You may ask for discount if you also an AVS forum member
Wah congrats ! Nice… looks like lotsa work… enjoy !
Wow…crazy price for shakers.
Price has gone up quite a bit . I just checked my email . I bought mine at about USD 700 for dual actuators kit back in 2004 when they started this business . Currently is USD 1098 . But I sold away at Sgd500
I believe bro Wind purchased 4actuators + amp combo. Thats why so expensive .
Yes you are right. It’s combo set.
Indeed. But the feel is really different. More “natural” in a way.
My wife and children likes the butt shake feel a lot lol
Ya, i tested couple of shakers n tactiles, crowsontech still the best as it can roll n etc. Very special. Unless u advance to another stage, dbox which it literally move your seat.
Does crowson move the seat in only the forward aft direction?
How about side to side, or up and down?
I guess it doesn’t really matter as its not large motion like Dbox, is just the tactile vibration?
There’s a budget version cass BOSS using open baffle subs as shakers on the platform riser, avsforum has quite a few builds… Wonder how it compares
Crowson not really move the seat. But when pair with subs bass, you have the tactile feel the bass like rolling left to right, front to back, diagonally and vice versa. Very interesting. Unlike bass shakers only shake n shake(butt shaking).
I am not sure cass BOSS as i never try before. Moreover, lost touch and never follow ht shakers/tactile anymore. Now i more concentrating on games for this type of gadgets.
Currently i have the clark synthesis but not sure how it compare to crowson as i only use it on games. But i believe crowson still hard to beat.
If only the price can come down to a more affordable range…then I will consider getting one.
Hi desray, u can just buy the 2 actuator kits. Then purchase a sub amp seperately at partexpress. Think will be about 2k in total.
Crowsons are the best actuator, they should not be confused with shakers, that mostly has “one note bass”
They are very good now, especially when used with BEQ. Which is why we are seeing more folks getting these .
The ideal part is also how it is being mounted, and configured, and timing of the shake followed by the intensity. It requires time to dial this in. But definitely doesn’t take away the sensation of tactile feel, but rather supplement it in a nice way.
I don’t see any cons, other than $$. Definitely worth it for HT enthusiasts who are into supplementing the set up, and looking into single digit frequencies type of tactility
Agreed with bro Roni . Tactile transducer is different from bass shakers . I am not sure how many tactile transducers in the market . So far I only know crowson and clark synthesis belong to tactile transducer .
cant agree with Bryan more, my best investment so far, i spent 3.2k for the 2 actuators + amp but no regret, will buy 2 more to enjoy more later
Will definitely put this in my wish list.
