Demo and catch up at Roni’s

Ya, very true. That’s the trade off there

Try this product?

Seems more suitable for a DIY screen on a wall but need a border to frame up the screen material.

Went ahead with the table runner in the end

The lights reflecting off the side of the glossy speaker cabinets is really annoying when watching movies…

Wow. The cloth is really making the speakers look “bad”. May I suggest the use of matte wallpaper stickers which can easily be applied and remove. In my bat cave, I have applied a small area on my KEF R50 Dolby Atmos speaker modules because the front baffle are glossy like yours as well. I have no problem removing it after almost a year without any sticky residue.

Do you need matt black divider stand beside the speaker?

any idea where to get this? ya dont mind getting…

what type of stand? got pics?

No picture… just simple thin wood plank as big as the side of the speaker then paint it matt black. Or speaker grill as big as the speaker side. Place either of these on the side of the speaker on independent stand, not attached.

That’s gonna be challenging since the speakers are fixed at its location. There is no space for additional stands beside it, that’s taken up by the racks

When watching the movie yesterday, it was good

Can’t tell , the lights reflecting off the cabinets are gone , circled in red

But instead , I can still see some of it reflected off the front equipments, circled in yellow, very faint, but luckily not too bad and distracting

Overall not too bad, I guess I’ll try the matte wallpaper see how it goes. For now just stick to the table runner , that solves it at the moment

Here’s a shot at the matte black wallpapers I’m talking about. The last pic show you how easy it is to peel off and reapply the wallpaper. Residue is to the minimal and can be easily wipe off using WD-40 lubricant.

The reason I’m only apply the front baffle of the speakers is due to the Projector laser which cause a shimmering that reflects off the glossy piano finish of my KEF R50 speakers.

I got it from Homefix many years ago. You should be able to get it in one of their branches.

Maybe something like this? Not sure if the glue is too sticky or not… but they claim it is easily removable. 12X60 inch Matte Black Vinyl Film Wrap Car Diy Sticker | Lazada Singapore

Maybe you use bluetack if worried the glue is damaging?

Yup…something like this.

Ya saw that initially, didn’t try in the end, Wen with the table runner instead. Movie watching time is fantastic. All reflected lights absorbed. But day time looks bad, doesn’t look pretty at all

Strange part is Mrs said Ok , no diff !! Lol… But to me looks not ok. I think she is immune with the work I do… hahaha

Ya ok, looks ok actually. Not bad.

Ah …nice no more reflective distractions .

Ok more updates now.

Yesterday after the demo of the divini speakers, I had to compare it immediately with what I’m hearing at home.

So I fired up the same old tidal songs through the Oppo 205

To my surprise, the black velvet table runner actually worked in my favour, in two ways. First is the obvious elimination of light reflecting off the glossy cabinets

The other interesting part is I’m now hearing better sound quality on the upper frequencies. The ribbon tweeters capturing the trailing edge of the instruments is really solid, like the sound, tinggggggg… the crack of a cymbal from the various instruments is really good with the ribbons, very accurate sounding and hard to beat. The improvements in sound are noted to be at the 1/4 location of the screen , circled in green. That’s where I’ve observed had the biggest improvements with the instruments

Turns out that the left speakers high frequency dispersion to its first reflection point in right (ie the glossy cabinet surface of the speaker on right) is being controlled and has improved surprisingly well. So the velvet fabric is now acting as a sound absorber absorbing the high frequency of the first reflection from the left speaker and vice versa, seen in the blue line

The phantom image at centre in red, is so much more pronounced and accurate

Wow… blessing in disguise actually.

It looks weird during the day, like a Jedi’s speakers… but … turns out it works to my advantage, both in terms of sound and video

That’s the beauty with audio, touch this that changes, move that this changes…

It’s all a piece of art at the end of the day…

You might try getting something hemmed into the ends of the covers so that they hang a bit better or tape them down at the sides on the end
