Demo and catch up at Roni’s

Oh u haven’t experienced it with the big screen. Means previous demo with u was with the OLED tv.

Don’t worry bro, we can catch up another time. No problem

It’s about 3.3m from screen. The baffle wall itself is approximately 45cm in depth, 18cm for the diffusors, 20cm rockwool behind that, 7cm air gap

135” is just nice for me. I didn’t go with the THX recommendation of 110” at that distance

Instead I followed the advice of another member . He told me this:” I first started to 100”, after some months, I found it to be too small, then I went with 120”, another year and its still looks small, now I have plans for 150”.

He said the screen, looks smaller and smaller as years pass by… , so he said go for max possible, don’t worry about any upgrades along the way

So I took his advice, took a leap of faith and went with 135”. No turning back, at this distance, the eyes are used to it now . It sort of auto adjust over time

Thanks bro. I experienced your 135” screen more than a year ago. Will be deciding on a 123” or 135” screen and you helped with the decision! Naughty!

Yea gotta go big, or go home ! Lol we are home this whole year , doesn’t look like it’s gonna change much next year

If I have to pick again 80” OLED vs 135” AT screen, without a shadow of doubt , it will always be 135”, (if situation/space permits)

Cannot beat the experience of the voice emanating from the centre of the screen, tracking on screen action at the same time, it’s just too immersive

mine is also ~3.3m away from 135" screen for 2 years, initially felt a liitle bit too big for 16:9 contents, but now i felt it is kinda small…lol

Exactly, initially big, after sometime it looks small. Lol. But I think for me it’s just nice sweet spot now

Audio is but only part of the cinematic experience…big screen, big sound is the way to go. Alas my 106" screen can’t compare to yours because I am limited by my batcave. I can’t bring myself to setup a projector screen in the living room since I will have a hard time controlling the ambient lights. My house is “west-facing”, meaning my place (or rather living room) is always “brightly-lit” 365 days. I have to use a dedicated room and the compromise is no bigger than 120" (if I really want to push it).

I agreed, go as big as your viewing distance allowed but observe the eye and neck strain if you sit too close to the screen.

I remember laying the screen out on the floor and attaching the frame and getting all tensioned up with you so long ago now…that was some massive screen area I thought then. Props to you for going big. I’m gradually pushing my luck to get a 4K nod approval. Fingers x.

Thanks man! Really appreciated your help :grinning:

Ya really nice , no regrets at all. Hope your Mrs gives you the green light !

I know it’s not easy, that’s the biggest hurdle , getting the Mrs to agree

Following up with this, now the fabric ultra black velvet table runner has arrived , washed it and ready to load…

However…

It doesn’t look nice !! It’s like two pieces of cloth hanging on the speakers

Definitely no go for me. Spoils the looks on the speakers … hmmm

Gotta look for an alternative approach , for now just live with it

Bro, you will get used to it. Also, you can’t see the cloth or speakers when you are watching movies, I believe the environment should be almost pitch dark or very dim.

Not used to it two pieces of cloth hanging there, looks really weird
Hmmmm

Perhaps because it is too wide, deeper than the speaker and therefore , hanging off the front and back of the speaker.

You can try trim it to same width as the cabinet depth, should be neater looking and don’t have the hanging look.

Hi Ron I know how it feels .

Like having a Ferrari Car and you install a extra large spoiler at the back .

But the spoiler improves the aerodynamics of the Ferrari.

Very true .

Thanks for hosting us for a demo session. Very very nice and had a good time listening to a very well calibrated setup. All the time spent and hardwork is paying off.

Now looks like this , looks like Jedi

Lol

Kidding, but when it’s at night in the dark, no issues, can’t see. During day time then it looks kinda unpleasant

But the material is very solid, ultra black

Spot on, that’s why it has to stay there, the aerodynamics improves … no choice … still gotta find a way to make it look nicer

Cheers mate ! Glad u enjoyed the session yesterday

This is a trade-off when you use your living room as the main entertainment center in your home.
