Oh you are right bro ! I didn’t realise prime is in Atmos ! Lol
So that’s correct, the aeronauts movie is Prime “exclusive”, so most likely we won’t see a bluray release…

Ok here is is. Those interested. You can follow the method I’m using
Here is the software you can DL, called xmedia recode v 3436 ( use only this version, don’t upgrade)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1z3jSfyk5R4rjnJ_VOUVgDrJiXaJA5vc8/view?usp=sharing
Don’t worry it is virus free and ad free. But if u r concerned, scan the .exe file . Or if you are able to find it on the Web, you can DL it,v3.4.3.6
After installing, open the app. I set this to matroska, MKV container . Destination, choose anywhere. I save this in D drive on PC. Click on “open” to find the movie you want to cut out for demo.
On the “video” tab, click X circled in blue. That wil delete the existing video file from the movie. Then click “copy”. Default option is convert. We want to copy the existing video, not convert, so we retain the full uncompressed video
Click the arrow button and it will add the video on your right. Note that mode is still showing as “copy”
Then go to the next tab, “audio”
Similar to the above, x first whatever file is on the right, then change the mode from convert to copy. Copy will retain the full loseless audio. Then select the file you want to copy. In this sample, it is dtsX file. Notice I have also chosen dolby digital file?. That is because sometimes during demo scenes, I will need to switch to dolby digital for the processor to pick up the format. It’s a known bug with Oppo 203/205 players. (Too bad Oppo no longer around)
The comes to filters/preview tab, here is where we need to select the timestamp to cut. So in the sample below, I have chosen, timestamp 23rd min to 29th min of the movie
Then we come to the next tab as below , chapter editor. Somehow my snap shot got truncated. But on the right side of this page, key in the same 23 min to 29min time stamp, because we don’t want to go to chapters in demo scenes , we just playback the short clip, so chapters are not necessary
Click on add to queue, the green plus sign, then u will see the word encode. Click on encode and it takes less than 1 min to cut out the scene. Go to your D: and you will see your cut out clip
Test it on the system to confirm if it is working correctly !
Ps://
Normally, what I will do is I will zoom in to the BEQ catalogue from this link here
https://beqcatalogue.readthedocs.io/en/latest/
In the above example, I use movie from “girl on a train”
So if I’m interested in bass, I look at the heatmap which’s shows how hot the bass areas in orange, the brighter the orange, the higher the SPLs., that tells us how heavy the bass is at given time stamp in that movie, in this case 23-29th min range. Circled Blue on the left is the time stamp
If u look at the graph instead, you will notice there is a spike at 40hz, so in this movie, there is a “special type of midbass “ happening at 40hz. The transient peak circled in blue tells me that. So this movie, has some type of special effects at 40hz
As you break it down along the way, you get more and more experienced and u start to realise what 40hz type of special effects you get, or what 10hz effects are and so on…
Enjoy and if you have any questions, let me know. Happy to help out
TYVM! Successfully cut couple of clips.
Welcome , enjoy the demo scenes !
Great sharing…
Here is one video I came across, fantastic video from Danny. Totally agreed with everything he has said. Cables are not just cables, the built quality and design makes a helluva difference!
Why I picked the divini PTY as my favourite, after testing many different versions.
And yes, it does sound better after burn in!
Another good one
Hope you are not treading slowly into his footsteps…I used to respect this chap but now after settling down (as in married), he becomes more “grounded” and into lifestyle AV gears. He is now going against most of his advice that he put out in the past. But now…well I guess, people changed.
Oh Andrew Robinson , nah, don’t follow much on his videos. The only video I have watched from Andrew is the one on REW, where he talked about how to set this up on your laptop, some 3 years ago. Haven’t watched any of his videos since…
Haha…how marriage can dissuade a hardcore AV enthusiast to change so radically. The power of love!
Another fantastic video from GR research, this guy really knows his stuff !
Absolutely spot on, if someone comes and tell you with digital cable it’s just about the 1s and 0s, they probably haven’t grasp the whole thing
Check out the video , and this is exactly what I do when conduct demos.
Well done Danny, educational video indeed
Here is where u can point him to, this is from a separate article, not from GR research, spot on again
These few very good for demo

this final one for specular highlights, mastered in 12k, crisp and sharp, check out this one also drool on your PJ
Thanks for the list… I see a few I’ve yet to check out!
1,3,4 - are the movie itself on par with the SQ?
1 is actually my fav among the bullet scenes, very solid, all types of guns and special effects. Some gangster movie starring Ben Affleck Honestly until today I haven’t even watched 1. The whole movie. I came to know about this scene from another fellow member Ralfale , old timer at xtremeplace
3 is also ben Affleck movie. Action thriller, pretty decent
We shared these information some years back
Hi Ronil,
send you PM
Thank you
Today on leave and took the opportunity to improve the set up further . I’ve noticed that the black fabric in use, is not as black and came across one ultra black spandex velvet. Which I’ve used for the baffle wall today
A pizza cutter used to slide and tuck in
Together with this, not sure what it’s called but being used to tuck in along the baffle wall
We can see the contrast in black and how black is ultra black material
You can also see below, between the black velvet material, there is this ultra black version
Just completed one side of it, not too bad, loving the black material, can’t wait to test out the video quality tonight with the laser PJ on hdr , fantastic laser PJ by LG 2600 lumens, really solid
And finally, use this to take away the dust….
But of course need to wash the cloth and put some nice comfort ultra softener, so it smells good !!
For the time portions, again it’s easier to just use the tape ultra black to wrap
Something like this from amazon will work
Again we can see the level of black and how black is that black!!
Loving the system now as it is with the line array, and still constantly working to improve the set up.
The next thing I’ll be doing is to get a DIY masking panel for scope 2:35… unfortunately the store has run out of stock for this ultra black velvet … step by step, slowly but surely
All tucked in now… phewww… damn tiring… old uncle now…
Still left with the top section, awaiting the arrival of the stick on ultra black velvet…. Then it’s good to go…
I can already see the difference in black… very good this material…should have told the builder to use this material from the beginning
Another pic here u can see the shade of black and how dark is it compared to the original
I decided to the above after watching the youthman videos on various HT house tours, if u haven’t watched it, check it out on YouTube . You can get tons of idea how it’s done in the USA . A lot of them are using the JTR subwoofers, must be rock solid!
I was very interested to find out what’s blackest of blacks…
First I chance upon this material called vantablack today , shared by another friend
Some info on it above… then as I dived in, I found this very interesting video, I thought I would share it, very informative stuff
Check out the video below
If you prefer to read
This is the current champion for blackest of blacks…. 99.995% light absorption
Back to the youthman video, whilst watching, I came across this part where he mentions about ‘headroom’
When I host a demo session, I always like to explain to the listener what to look out for in this particular clip or that particular clip, what is the difference u will find in this demo clip etc
Now watch this quick explanation by youthman after his tour to Scott newby’s place . It’s good to understand the important points in the video
Zoom in to 7 mins. He talks about “headroom” and why it is so important . I used to call it subwoofers in cruising mode, he has used body builders as an example. They all mean the same thing, the ability for the system to play loud with extremely Low distortion . When u have 2 subwoofers playing 125db, they are working very hard. Now if u have 4 subwoofers working for the same 125db, the load is reduced by half, take 8 subwoofers playing at 125db, it’s halved again… that’s what this is all about… “headroom” 2 subwoofers can give u the visceral impact at 125db, but 8 is giving u the same 125db with ease, no sweat, no strain. This translates to minimal distortion…… that’s what this is all about and why I have so many… now u will understand this part…
Next, zoom in to this other video by another expert, at close to 9 min mark, he talks about headroom again…how much amplifier power it requires and how much excursion from the drivers at 10,20,40,80 hz and it literally stops vibrating at 80hz
This is a very important concept of speakers having the headroom . If u notice, up to a certain point as u go higher up the crossover “relieving the speakers of Low frequencies duty” diminishing returns kick in. This I have measured to be at 100hz on the monitor audio 8” woofers. Beyond 100hz there is not much headroom to gain. Hence the decision to always use 100hz as crossover when it comes to HT and music
No matter how good , big or heavy or massive the speakers are, they will benefit when relieved of Low frequencies duty. The same concept applies, the speakers need their “headroom” and it’s on a different league again…
Now the 3rd thing one must understand when engaging a crossover
Look at the above example of a perfect crossover between subwoofers and main speakers woofer. Becareful I’ve mentioned perfect crossover, but there is more to this than meets the eye
Assuming the red is speaker and the green is the subwoofer. U have a summation , in fact a perfect summation at the cross over point of 80hz. Looks good? Yea!! Sounds good ?? Depends.
But one problem u must understand is the timing of the speaker’s woofer and the timing of the subwoofers are not the same at the region highlighted in green above
When a cross over of 80hz has been engaged, both your subwoofers and your speakers will play frequencies from 70-90hz at the exact “same time”. Now this timing information is something u cannot see from a frequency response graph, u can only see this Information from the impulse response graph, which can tell u the timing of the woofer and subwoofer from 70-90hz . Now this part is very important, if u get this timing right, the phase will automatically be correct and what will follow is a smooth sound and nicely blent in subwoofers with mains. It will sound seamless and coherent
So one must remember, when u say cross at 80hz for the speakers, it doesn’t mean the speakers stop playing frequencies below 80hz, or when u say “I Low pass the subwoofers at 80hz”, the subs still plays past 80hz but gradually reduces in SPLs
So yes… always , and always back to the most important factor … it is non other than timing… headroom won’t matter, if u listen at lower levels… say MV -30 or MV-35, but if u r the crazy ones or bass heads… then every drop of sweat matters…
Agreed… it’s been mentioned ad nauseam by home theater enthusiasts but definitely bears repeating.
Agreed as well…crossover is a shelf frequency not a hard one at that…hence finding that crucial point will result in a better sound stage between the speakers and the subwoofers. The whole concept of crossover is simply to ensure optimum frequency range will be undertaken by either the speakers or the subwoofers. Generally, 80Hz is a good starting point but over the years, we can see that the crossovers for mains are getting “higher” and crossing into the region of 100Hz which in the past, may regard as satellite or diminutive speakers which simply doesn’t have enough low-end extension.
