OLED & LCD technologies discussion

if i’m not wrong in interpretation…

…does the highlighted sentence means there’s a Quantum Dot layer integration in the panel structure?
this brings me back to the searching and understanding of what SHARP model codes may mean. through the years of models released in the past, i saw that the 2nd alphabet, be it K/L would often refers to the look and targeted segment of crowds the products were pushing into. then the “J” series was introduced in “E” year putting J/K/L into a range with 60Hz panel refresh rates.
should this new “N” comes with a Quantum Dot layer, with 120Hz native panel(which i doubt so but rather 120Hz acheivable through MEMC engagement), then would there be some other models in between or before and after “N” and “U” that may be:-
-60Hz refresh rate FALD/DLED without Quantum Dot layer
-60Hz refresh rate FALD/DLED with Quantum Dot layer
-120Hz refresh rate FALD/DLED without Quantum Dot layer
-120Hz refresh rate FALD/DLED with Quantum Dot layer
-60Hz refresh rate miniLED without Quantum Dot layer
-60Hz refresh rate miniLED with Quantum Dot layer
-120Hz refresh rate miniLED without Quantum Dot layer
-120Hz refresh rate miniLED with Quantum Dot layer

a surprise from SHARP… they’re “punctual” this year for mid-term new product launch!

the list price/RRP, is kind of high for non-miniLED product of this size. additional infos here states that the panel used, is of 120hz high-refresh rate. but still no mention if QLED layer integration is employed, although the mention of using in-house engineered Picture Engine is present.

feel the warmth of 8K breeze coming soon!

budget friendlier! SLIMMER!

but… not bearing Japanese or Korean badge.

AOC new “wide color gamut” QLED products for 2024 launched in TAIWAN!

what are the key attractions of the upgrades to the new models this year?
from 2023’s employment of MT9602 to MT9612 i see…

general specs for the models sold in TAIWAN in different sizes.

i recently noticed that the price of AOC 2023’s QLED TVs are set to draw attentions from SHARP buyers eyeing on SHARP 2023 models of the same sizes with same price numbers.

with SoC upgrade this year in AOC models, SHARP will have harder time to compete this year in the budget entry segment if priced to compete with AOC as well as other brands, hence, no sight of SHARP’s budget range samples sent to NEA for assessment yet.

should PHILIPS had sent 2024 AOC range for energy efficiency assessment, the results will probably be available between August to September, like last year.

don’t be alarmed by the price…

…this is not a annual Great Singapore Sales offer, nor a practical price catered for non-gaming older folks. but rather, a “realistic” price with free gifts removed… that would be $700 for digital streaming based PlayStation device.

after a year’s “hiatus break”, folks looking for budget friendly giant size OLED display shall be happy that they’re not forgotten by PHILIPS. coming soon will be a 77" OLED-ex model that packs a Pentonic SoC that is already in the 2024 models sized 55" and 65" available in market for weeks, that falls in PHILIPS OLED700 series. price would be expected to be more competitive to PRISM+ that had been stealing budget hunters attentions.

SG’s 2024 PHILIPS 77" OLED packs Google OS, hence the SoC will not be Novatec that’s found in European market 700series…

…but rather 95% close in specs to Europe’s 800series.
for comparison, u may be interested to take a look at the available 65" variant specification description as product page for 77" is not up yet in PHILIPS SG site.

considering that there isn’t much “upsize” to panel tech as well as other specs with exception to the SoC that is still unclear whether it’s still Pentonic700 or upgraded to Pentonic1000, i assume that the launch price would hover around $5.5k~$6.25k range, considering that 2022’s 77OLED807 was launched with a $6.6k price tag then falls under $6k roughly 6mths later.

i wonder, by 2025’s CNY, how would PHILIPS 77OLED789 be priced? will it break the $5k barrier to go lower? by then, how will PRISM+ be prepared?

U.S. Continent built HiSense is now available thru parallel importer!

although these are 1yr warrantied parallel imports, at least… they’re the sets that majority see reviews originated from the U.S. uploaded into YouTube and have been wanting to get their hands on U.S. specs as well as GoogleTV OS!

so the price of PHILIPS “entry level” QLED TV that comes with native 60Hz refresh rate panel is out!
屏幕截图(15)
currently when put along with the other 2 Chinese Giant offerings, we can see that PHILIPS certainly gain some attention grabbing from HiSense interest crowds, while loses out to what TCL can offer in savings.
the competition is still going on as we have no idea on how the HiSense U6N FALD range will be spec’ed, as well as what OS the system is based since till today, since HiSense have not created a page locally or regionally to indicate what kind of specification that the “non-PRO” U6N is packing. however, a FALD QLED “entry level” range to compete with TCL’s C655 range is coming soon and the price is likely to knock on PHILIPS and TCL’s door telling them that “HiSense is coming for your buyers soon! Enjoy what you’re having now!”

2 new range from HiSense will be launched in the COMEX 2024 tomorrow.

1st will be the highly anticipated Canvas Range, that took inspiration from the Samsung FRAME range, yet comes with much competitive price…

…when the specification in a glance, beats Sammy out of the water!
native high-refresh rate panel, with Quantum Dot layer, Pentonic 700(MT9618) SoC and not to miss, Matte Panel! TVOS will be VIDDA though…

2nd will QLED TV with Google OS, that would be a competitor to TCL’s C655 range.

thru some search, this model is already available in Thai market and is going off at 32000baht. will SG price be going as low as under $1600 or not, that will only be seen when official launch is made tomorrow. no other HiSense sellers, including the 3 Mega Electronic MNC that now carries HiSense range of TV products have specific product pages created for these 2 new range.

while HiSense is first to put out a strike on Samsung’s face
to gain attention from budget tight buyers who may be interested with what Sammy offers…

…TCL is not seating around quietly to see how HiSense make their first punches, with the common 2 sizes of 55" and 65inch.
TCL’s NXTFRAME range of matte screen QLED TVs with picture frame will be launching in coming weeks in U.S. market, and some retailers are taking orders now. on the specification side of attraction, TCL’s collaboration with Bang&Olufson with addition of 2 giant sizes of 75" & 85inch as options will truly make the range a direct competitive opponent to Samsung, that now starts to explore on smaller size offerings to different markets to gain some buyers attention.

TCL’s 75A300W NXTFRAME QLED comes with a RRP tag of USD$2.5k,
that would indicate that the first 75" picture frame TV from TCL if comes to SG,
may priced under $5k, close to what Samsung is selling now with $5+++ price tag.

a surprise appearance from HiSense with their 2024 OLED TV the A85N in COMEX 3Q’2024!
especially when the announcement was made thru FlatPanelsHD yesterday afternoon!

price is set to take on other makes in the market that’s utilizing WOLED(OLED-Ex) under $2.9k for the 65" model, if i didn’t see it wrongly at their show floor. no signs of 55inch.

2024 PHILIPS 77incher launch price is out! breaks through the $5000 barrier by… 2 blue bills, going by $4900 w/PHILIPS 3yrs warranty.
so… there could be a chance to go around $4.7k when black friday deals come. but @ the same time, PRISM+ would be slashing their price to their 77incher with panel grade that may lose out to PHILIPS but scores in multichannel audio presence.

SANSUI makes it’s launch of USD$800 55inch OLED in U.S. market!

the big attempt to win budget OLED hunters’ heart!

when PHILIPS yr’23 OLED was introduced late into the market roughly in last November, it breaks the $3000 benchmark for introductory price to mainstream 65" of going $100 lesser. then 2mths plus later, coming to CNY’24…

…$300 is slashed and the price goes for several months until few weeks ago, when stocks seems to go low across various retailers islandwide.
PHILIPS yr’24 OLED range starts with 800series, then with 77" from the 700series with 77OLED789. the most recent new entry into the market is 65" from the 700series, introductory priced with discount @$2.7k!

…that seems priced to take on both HiSense and PRISM+ in the budget priced segment. PRISM+ is priced @$2.7k discounted price now with multi-channel speaker drivers in a body where 65OLED789 loses on.

the budget “friendly” PHILIPS 65OLED789 is currently even more cheaper than PHILIPS own 65PML9109 miniLED TV for the moment! when CNY’25 arrives in 10weeks to come, there’s a likeliness that both 65" models mentioned from PHILIPS, miniLED vs OLED, may priced the same. then, that would be the scenario where consumers will be making the choice to go for “multichannel audio” or “display tech” options.

anyway, it’ll be interesting to see how low can the 55OLED789 can go, when it is launching in coming weeks as PRISM+ yr’23 55AL is now going off at discounted price of $1.9k.

taking on the “Return of Video Processing Contestant”… only in U.S.

HiSense U8N vs Panasonic W95A
Panasonic needs no nits to win the game, however what HiSense offers… is Value.
