OLED & LCD technologies discussion

Fwah… … …

…Bonuses nowadays seems to be very fat for some looking to Splurge on close~100” OLED models!

SIA big bonuses…

for those interested to step into the world of OLED…

…this is your chance on a biggest size available that won’t eat a big chunk off your bank account, as well as not holding you back by waiting for the price tag of such size to shrink to comfortable level.

anyway, after i had gone to several electrical stores to look out for a demo of this model, i can only be sure that only COURTS AMK have this 77OLED720 from PHILIPS on display, with not so impressive presentation as the video clip they play, seems to be of very low resolution origin, up-scaling done by the video processor of the SoC, since this model doesn’t carry PHILIPS proprietary video processor of the P5 family.

the presentation quality of the display of this model is kind of disappointing that would probably prompt any interested party to look at how the miniLED 75PML9109 more impressive in presentation… and $200 lesser.

SHARP is “EARLY” this year to submit their "H"yr, 2025 models for NEA Energy Efficiency and CPSA Safety Mark assessment.

the mid-end LED HL6500x range had achieved their Safety Marks registration, leaving the entry level HJ6000x range probably in the process of assessment and tests on product safety.

no sight of SHARP’s miniLED for 2025 yet. judging from the slower sales of SHARP’s 2024 miniLED models that was pushed into the market few weeks ago, it’s likely that we may see 2025 model to be send in to regulating agencies 6mths later for assessment and certification, then to launch in last quarter of the year, like last year.

a new xtra-large OLED product surfaced in Taiwanese market, claims to be the most affordable entry make for consumers to step into giant OLED zone…

…@ the price of TWD$64000 w/2yrs warranty(roughly SGD$2.9k base on 1SGD:22TWD x-rate).

here’s the interesting part.
aesthetically does it look familiar?

yup! it looks close to the cheapest 77inch in local scene released 3mths ago…

…the PHILIPS 77OLED720 that recently drops to $3700 w/3yrs warranty.
not only aesthetically looks the same, the specs is close as well, if you refer to this product leaflet…

…against what is listed in this Taiwanese product site…

so… now the question rises…
WHO makes WHO?
PHILIPS the original ODM?
or INCLO TW the original ODM?
or the ODM is some one else?

no matter how, we need to look into one truth, BRANDING doesn’t mean ORIGINITY. but BRANDING could mean something that demand Customer Satisfaction to UPHOLD their REPUTATION.

in this case, PHILIPS had offered us a product to step into a new zone without breaking our piggy bank, backed with their post sales service that may satisfy our expectation.

anyway… here’s the Taiwanese forum discussion thread that may serve anybody’s interest-
https://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=347&t=7089376

this is the detail measurement and review of the model done by Taiwanese Tech 3CDOG.

the cost of OLED panels may have fallen, but does that fall reflects on new model prices?

here are 6 SAMSUNG OLEDs going to be available roughly before annual June~July new model replacements. 2 models each on 65", 77", 83".

the “2nd” grade panels-

the “1st” grade panels-

from the targeted RRP, when compared to last yr’s models, it seems that there are some fall on prices, but not significant like what you may see in U.S. market…

…when we factor in Shipping Charges and Warranty Coverage Costs as well as X-rates, a new Samsung 83" “2nd class OLED” could be available justifiably @ SGD$6800~7300.

anyway, to see OLED take a fall to new low, we’ll probably have to wait for another 3yrs, when Chinese OLED make it’s appearance either in Q4 of this year, or Q2 of next year, after CES’26.
Quality and Stability of Chinese OLED gaining support from different TV makers, will determine how low can Korean OLED can go.

list of SHARP models for product year “H-2025” coming in month time.

what is interesting this year, is the introduction of their biggest screen @ 85inch eversince the stoppage of 80" and above models some number of years back. however, from the list, 85" make wouldn’t be available in the entry level and mid-low range HJ or HL, but rather with mid-high and high-end range HN(HRR panel) and HU(HRR+miniLED).
