*Official Thread* Anthem AVM 70 & 90 and MRX 540, 740 & 1140

Ok new LCR Speakers stands finally in today and just finished calibration with 1.11.3!
Using 1.11.3 , reset AVP and done up a new calibration.
Super happy with this Cinema sound and bass! Clarify with LCR, Atmos and Bass impact !
Not touching it anymore.

Subs gain are all fix at 12’oclock ( no change)
Adjust all the placement , Redone a level match of 3 subs via rew noise/SPL meter.

Time align 3 subs together.

*I did try hearing an added REW EQ house curve last week don’t rely fancy it.

After which done a ARC Calibration.
The SPLS levels and distance is much zhun now.
Before the atmos speakers used to be + almost +12db up.

Don’t have high expectations but I was blown away by this version ARC.

Watched some quick demos.
HULk dts-X
The guncannisters shot out the cannon gas with impact :flexed_biceps:
Bumblebee Atmos :+1:
Quiet place 1 left speaker soft clicking sound
12 strong horse Cheong with missiles
End it with ready player one never disappoint!

Rest time cheers.
PS : I am watching at around -27mv lol. my preferred is always -23 to -25mv.

Ok have some free time and back to my fine tune moment lol.

I remember @desray shared about the 180" Phase mode measurement
and have also seen this useful article on avsforum - posting here for the benefit of sharing.

Yesterday night trying to meddle with the phase with 2 subs up front and 1 sub NF back.

Done an inverted Phase on the back NF sub

and can see more output from 5-20hz

Will try out movie demos tonight.

Thanks bro.

For me once calibrated , will just spend more time sit down and enjoy the movies haha.

As per today, I still believe in ARC room calibration which will bring out the best performance of the product itself.

Not phase mode…I’m referring to the polarity change.

Now the Dirac ART is coming to Denon and Marantz…I may be tempted to change camp in the near future. But the fact that I need to pay for the Dirac licences for all 3 features - full bandwidth correction, DLBC and now ART is something that I am not happy with.

Saw some videos sharing their experience with AT screen -
They have adjusted up the LCR maximum correction frequency from 12k all the way to maximum.

Timestamp around 57mins for AT screen owners.

Time stamp 10mins -

The new ARC seems to have dropped the reference target by 10dB.

Anthem used to be 10dB louder than D&M and other calibration. Meaning - 25dB on Anthem = - 15dB on Audyssey and Dirac etc.

With new updates seems ARC has dropped it to be in line with the rest.. Always wonder why and now curious why they changed it now.

Did anything else change with ARC EQ and logic other than the reference level?
Seems to sound the same to me other than the levels.

@Wechnivag

u r right. not sure why after recalibrated (2nd time) with this new arc, tested with some demos my reference is around -15 to 20mv now ! Some movies sweet spot around
-17 to -19mv for me.

For me, the speakers +db and distance are much balanced after this new ARC EQ.

Using same set of speakers for previous and current arc as below.

Using mrx 1140 avr and thinking to add the front surround speakers
But I don’t want to do the recalibration of arc will it work ?
I mean rest of the speakers sound and eq will remains the same ?

Not advisable to do that, especially when the wide or height speakers that you have introduced is of a different brand/model from the rest of the speakers. There is too much variations and uncertainties - e.g. sensitivity of the speakers, types of speaker drivers to name a few. For optimal ARC results, it needs information in whole from “all” speakers. My advice, just re-run ARC, who knows, the new run might actually bring about better results for the entire system.

Hi there everyone, just a quick question, for over a year I am looking for a firmware update on my Anthem MRX 540 through the UI online control and through the remote control but no update found. It’s on firmware 2.3.213. Is this the up to date stable version. By the way I don’t do Beta so that’s out of the question.
Many thanks.

That firmware you have posted is referring to the Network module for the AVM/MRX.

I am very confused when you are asking whether this is the latest “stable” version? There is no stable version for network module firmware…if you are referring to the ARC s/w, then the latest version is 1.11.3 which is considered “stable” can be d/l from Anthem’s official download page: ARC: Downloads

So which is which?

Mine is showing the same network module firmware number as yours so I think I am ok now.

Yes basically it’s the network module firmware. What is that by the way. What do the updates do generally speaking.
