*Official Thread* Anthem AVM 70 & 90 and MRX 540, 740 & 1140

Didn’t I post this “new” firmware almost 18 days ago?

Ok. It just that two days ago when I checked for updates through the WUI there was no updates however last night I checked for updates through the Anthem settings via remote control and it did this new update for me. So let me ask you, are the WUI update and the Anthem Mrx settings update via remote control two separate updates.

Always invoke the update via Web UI which will download the latest firmware files over to the AVM/MRX to run. Make sure to enable beta update.

Edit: It appears that ver 2.3.213 is now the official stable version. This explains why @Cinaman only gets the firmware recently. Here’s the firmware changelogs:

Network Module Version: 2.3.213
Host firmware 80

  • Improved Dolby Vision compatibility with some devices
  • Fixed issue that could lead to audible distortion
  • Other minor bug fixes and improvements

Has anybody else realised that the bass with the new firmware is the best it’s ever been or is it just me. The gunshots seem more impactful you know hitting your chest. Blast and bangs etc. are more larger in scale and so on.

Yes. It is not placebo effect. This is indeed the case with this latest official firmware.

Yes finally, they took their time.

There 2 people selling anthem avm 70 at carousell Do u think it good deal? Of should go for 8k.

if i were to choose, i would rather get the 8K model, just to be “Future Proof Ready”

Hi there, I just realised after the latest firmware update my system wide level target is 70db by default when I run Arc G. Is that normal these days.

A “bug” in the stable ARC Genesis software (ver 1.7.4)?

It turns out that there are many complaints from Windows users who installed the latest stable ARRC Genesis s/w (ver 1.7.4) with mixed results on their ARC calibration, particularly on the target reference level set by the ARC Genesis. It seems at this point, it only affect Windows user and not Mac which probably explain why I did not encounter this issue.

The workaround seems to suggest the need to uninstall the old ARC Genesis s/w first BEFORE installing the latest ver 1.7.4. The report also seems to suggest that even the stock Add/Remove uninstaller will not effectively remove all the “older” dll files associated with the ARC Genesis s/w. A member claimed that using a third-party uninstaller will remove ALL remnants of the “older” dll files. The s/w is styled, “Geek Uninstaller” which can be downloaded here.

So those having issues with the new ARC Genesis may want to try this route.

I got a 740 the other week and have tried Mac and windows and the levels are always pumped 9 DB.
Ive tried with all speakers and only the Main Monitor audio Silver 6’s and its always the same.

Any reason for that?

Thanks

It is fine. So long the trim values are within the boundary of what ARC Genesis can use. There are several factors at play here.

  • The sensitivity of your speakers plays a part. Besides LCR, are the rest of the speakers using the same make and model?
  • The interaction of your speakers with the room. Depending on the placement/location of your speakers, it will yield different trim values.
  • Lastly, ARC Genesis will try to level-match all speakers, including the subwoofers. Subwoofer interactivity with the room will also have an impact on the overall speaker trim values.

In short, your trim values of 9.0dB for the L + R are fine. Nothing to worry about.

That makes sense, but all of the speakers are from the same make/range and when I do a Arc calibration only with the front LR speakers, it still does the +9DB.
They are only 3.5 meters from the Mic.

Its sounds great but I feel I have to lower the trim on the input, as its really loud at very low volume settings.

Thanks

I got a question…is this where we should increase the DB for center speaker? As currently after the firmware update and recalibration, the centre speakers sound very soft.

What is your normal listening level? What’s the master volume (MV) you’ve set for say a typical Dolby Atmos movie? Default MV for Anthem starts at -35dB, What is your start-up MV in this case?

If ARC is done right, dialogue intelligibility should’nt be an issue. Can you post your centre speaker graph? Alternatively, let me have a look at your .arc3 file and see if I can figure out what is the issue.

Hi Desray, able to see the file i attached in the link below?

Check your PM.
