Changed update procedure. Now Network Module firmware will update in the background and the host firmware will only update after you “Check for Updates” or if you have automatic updates turned on.
“Check for Updates” will now cycle through all firmware versions to make sure units are up-to-date.
Addressed a popping issue some people were experiencing with cable boxes
Addressed a fan issue that caused some fans to turn on immediately
If “HDMI Audio To TV” is On and “CEC Control” is On, Fixed an issue with no sound coming out of the speaker.
Fixed a bug that did not apply immediately when changing the Speaker Profile
“I moved on to the race scene in Ready Player One. I must confess here that I watched this with a mixture of awe at how good it sounded and genuine concern that ARC’s default EQ might actually stand on equal footing with my Trinnov reference system, at less than half the price.”
This particular comment will make Trinnov user pissed off at the price they paid for……
Definitely check out Kojo Bullet for grounding for your AVM90: avm70
I’ve just tested on my set up yesterday, I found it to be very good. It might/Might not work for you…
But sounds fantastic on my set up. I can feel the bass rhythm after the addition of the bullet, aka Ji Dan… as the Hongkies call it…
I placed my preorder “bullet” through Sky Audio, last week they hosted 12 hour marathon at their showroom… the impact I heard at his showroom vs my home was completely different
I reckon ARC is better, I’ve just experienced the new Dirac, nothing impressive … very cumbersome to level match all speakers before eq, if you are using different amplifiers with different gain, it’s a lengthy process to level match the speakers before eq
I’d still pick ARC over DL… the algorithm for blending multiple subs is awesome from ARC… plus the auto phase to blend subs to the mains… (not sure if that’s fixed) but that’s what’s missing in most room correction software like audyssey, Dirac, accueq, Yamaha’s YPAO . Not sure if trinnov does this auto blending or users will have to do manually… another member switched to using professional calibrator instead of the autocal from trinnov and he mentioned it was well worth paying the professional calibrator…… the only other room correction software that does this blending of subs to mains correctly is room perfect and JBL’s Arcos system …
Interesting, so this member have Trinnov but not using Trinnov proprietary calibration? Is that what you saying? I know Trinnov doesn’t come with the mic and it’s a separate cost to it. Dealer here will provide a one time calibration for buyer though.
What version of Dirac did you test?
We were invited by a close friend who purchased an ARCAM AV31 receiver and we went through the calibration process which was very familiar to me since the process itself was quite reminiscent of the calibration process that exists in ARC GENESIS.
I mainly focused on the simplest process without any focus on tweaks and just flowed with the automatic process.
After the calibration was finished, we started listening mainly to effects-heavy movies and demanding bass tracks.
I was very surprised by the quality of the sound and especially the quality of the bass which was very energetic and dynamic and especially the bass was very tight and integrated in a very convincing way with the front stage.
As the former owner of the Anthem MRX-1140 I do not remember such an amazing bass level from the Anthem when automatic calibration was performed without any intervention and changes in the target graph or the target curve.
Yes, I reached such a bass quality only when I increased by 2 DB in ROOM GAIN, so I was very surprised by the final result without any intervention on my part. And as a fan of Anthem, it quite frustrates me that ARCAM sounds much better than Anthem.
It was on the latest version of Dirac. The problem was some of the amplifiers (Atmos) was with unbalanced 2v connection and some balanced (main speakers) 4v connections. So there is variation in gain before the calibration process. That was a very painful exercise for the member to level the gains before attempting the calibration . It was like 30-45 mins just to level match all 11 speakers. And in between the mic picks up noise and he had to re do again… so troublesome and time consuming… if the set up uses amplifiers with similar gain settings and it’s noise free , then these issues wouldn’t pop up… with ARC the automated process does it for u…
I think it also depends on the calibrator and how he approach the calibration process and integration of the system.
A professional experienced calibrator, can transform a system using denon with audyssey to sound better than an inexperienced calibrator using the most advanced room correction technology like room perfect or ARC. So it really boils down to the calibrator and how he approach the system integration. If you have the same pro calibrator calibrating the 2 systems , then u get to gauge the pros and cons of each Room correction software and understand which is better.
Oh yes, by the way, the Dirac live version doesn’t really correct the room problems, rather it does more of “speaker correction”… it doesn’t factor the room reflections and power response going into the MLP… so there is a difference with this…
Speaking of experience calibrator, I came across one video from Anthony Grimani. He advocates the approach where one does Pre and Post optimisation before and after running room correction software. This is exactly the same approach I use whenever I integrate the system.
Here is the video you can check it out . This guy is good, listen to his advice. From his explanation, u know he is very experienced. He is someone who has been there, seen it, done it, and done it to the best…
You will have 1001 advices on the forum and internet but remember it’s important to follow the “right guy”…
Ya he got the free calibration but the issue was the calibrator wasn’t experienced enough…
Just hitting calibrate and go is not maximising the full potential of the system …
I’m not sure if trinnov corrects for room anomalies but seems similar to Dirac in the sense it corrects mainly for speakers and subs only… because it uses only a single point of measurement when capturing room data, I suspect that is inadequate information for it to apply necessary correction to cater for room anomalies… which is why, a pre and post optimisation using a professional calibrator yielded significant improvements for the chap…
But again how good it was ,I’m not entirely sure because I haven’t heard his before and after set-up using the pro calibrators service but he said it was well worth the money spent
Whao…who is this “member”? Do I know him? It is interesting to know that he spent so much for the brand and its hardware, only not to be satisfied with the brand’s proprietary calibration. To make sure we are not trying to sound like we are bashing Trinnov here in this dedicated Anthem thread, maybe Bro Wind can chime in on what the “one-time” calibration of the Trinnov mic can do for customers.
