Its about damn time!
Love the scope aspect ratio function
Lumagen also have these features. But MadVR is the one that came up with it first. Lumagen played catch up.
Lumagen will now face compettion from Envy MadVR, considering their new product is sold at a conparable price as Lumagen.
Hello i use my computer which has 4080 GPU to play the movies via my AVR its Anthem MRX 1140 and Projector is Sony VPL-XW5000ES 4K HDR Laser
what is the best way to watch the HDR movies? via my computer? right now using klite codec pack which has madvr but i dont know about the settings to use any help would be appreciated
If you start this thread from the beginning you will see that it is about building a HTPC with a program called Videoprocessor and using MadVR as a renderer. A video capture card is added to the HTPC so it processes incoming video through MadVR and outputs it to the projector via the Nvidia HDMI port. It looks like you are simply trying to play files through a player such as Kodi to your projector from the HTPC. In that case, the default settings for MadVR should work fine. MadVR is simply an alternate renderer that you install into Kodi.
Hey Sammy, thanks for all the great information. I’m diving deeper into this setup and could use your help. I’m currently running an Epson 5050UB and a Denon 4400H, with an Apple TV and a Panasonic 9000 4K player connected. My system also includes a 9900K CPU, a Radeon 6900XT GPU, and a DeckLink Mini Recorder, along with madVR 113, MPC-HC, and VideoProcessor.
The last piece of the puzzle seems to be the HDCP stripping, and I noticed the Vertex 2 is a bit pricey at over $400. I’m considering the DR HDMI 4K for $129 instead. Could I use the DR HDMI 4K to strip the HDCP from the output of my AVR, run it through my HTPC, and then connect it to my projector? I’d prefer to save some money if this solution works. Any help is appreciated.
I just read the DR HDMI doesn’t strip out hdcp, so I guess that answers that. So let’s change the question to: is there and less expensive options to vertex 2?
Would this work? HDFury Vertex (4K HDR Upscaler 4K60 4:4:4 600MHz)
I’ve heard that some of these cheap HDMI splitters strip out HDCP. I think this one was recommended by the AVS guys, but you best check carefully before you order as I have no direct experience with it
Thanks Sammy, but I wasn’t looking for that cheap. lol. I found one of these for $200. Better than $479. Will taking the video out from the AVR to the Vertex to the HTPC and the cid card hdmi to projector work? Is your setup still working well? I have no idea what I’m doing! lol. I’ll be happy just to see a picture on my projector.
All is stable for some time. My Vertex2 has 3 HDMI out, but one is Audio and that goes to AVR. The other two video outs, one goes to MadVR and the other direct to projector. So I can A/B between MadVR and no MadVR
That’s an interesting point, I never thought of not wanting the MADVR signal. Does that scenario happen a lot?
Yes. I don’t process SDR content through MadVR. Only HDR and DV
Hi Sammy I was in the process of setting up my own MadVR on a HTPC with a RTX 3080Ti card with the help of Safi from The Casual Cinephile, but since then the video has been taken down and need some guidance. I had a quite loud coil whine possibly coming from the HTPC through the speakers in my home theater only when using MadVR with the VideoProcessor application. Do you or does anyone have any screenshots of your current settings in MadVR? Also which version of MadVR are you using?
Thank you for the help in advance.
