LG Display (TV/Projector) Owner Thread

Ok thanks for confirmation. That’s really good to have , especially for PJ

Absolutely breath taking HDR quality

First round of grayscale HDR completed, first scene is the horse scene

You be the judge!

Dynamic tone mapping for HDR on the LG is 1st class…. I repeat… FIRST CLASS !!

This one  above, is really no horse run, see the horse? It is not running anywhere…

Eh Sia lah… the horse really not running!! Lol. Really nice man!

I have now completed both SDR and HDR calibration for both the inputs, Oppo 205 and Xbox series X

On SDR , even on out of the settings, we can see the difference in quality post calibration

The above is the most accurate picture mode, called “filmmaker “ mode. But you can still see the skies look purplish

This one above  instead, is the post calibrated version , the skies look blue. So ya, there it is. All dialed in now

Next up is HDR, calibration on the HDR was spot on, very very good HDR calibration. This is the best HDR I have seen in a pj. I have never seen HDR in this type of quality from a projector !

REC2020 colours are absolutely spot on, rich and so much depth, not saturated at all !

Some difficulty with white initially, but after two rounds of auto cal, one on “quick HDR” another on 20 points HDR, the grayscale was completed.

With colours, the only way to calibrate for HDR is by using “matrix lut”, there is no other possible way for calibrating HDR colours. This is the only way and bang on ! They were absolutely critical in getting HDR colours to look correct

Now see the video I have made, on the controls of “dynamic contrast” , see how the specular highlights on screen changes as I toggle with dynamic contrast features. Look at the black levels in HDR, absolutely stunning ! Again you be the judge . Watching the video in person is such a delight . it brought on a huge huge smile to my face post calibration, it is jaw dropping especially for HDR , totally mesmerised with this PJ

I’ve now completed every calibration on the LG AU810PB

Oh yes, for xBox series X, one would need to upload the patterns through the USB slot on the Xbox, then download an app called Movies & TVs

Using the above app, you can play HDR mp4 files and mkv files , so it kicks into HDR mode for calibration

The graphics on Xbox is really stunning in combination with the calibrated LG laser for HDR, nothing much to review further, everything works so damn good on this Pj. I cannot find any fault or problems with this PJ

One word to sum it up

UNBELIEVABLE!

Again, I highly recommend getting this projector. I wouldn’t even think twice.

Oh yes, and the projector is sitting on divini footers for isolation

The built in speakers sound fantastic as well. Thanks to the SMT wings diffusors flanking the Projector . Just normal built in speakers, already sound so good.

For the family members, can choose not to on the entire system, just use the built in speakers and built in app from the Pj for convenience

Oh yes, start up is also extremely fast compared to the previous projector . Shut down fast as well.

Holy crap

From Netflix LLDV, the kids love it, so I watched it again on the laser PJ, omg it is entirely on different planet

Next see the dress, the white, whitest of whites

The best part is the subtitles in white doesn’t give you that sore eyes like we see on oled. The adaptive contrast feature on the LG is first class!

Everything done right on this PJ

Check out the dragon, post calibrated HDR

No over saturation at all, first class LLDV on Netflix only….

Absolutely stunning video, perfect with the home theatre surround sound line array and AT screen

Very very enjoyable

I can LITERALLY FEEL the excitement and enthusiasm just reading the number of posts you’ve made in the last 2 days  LoL.

I’m sure it is money well spent! It definitely beats spending $$$ on a new car.

:grimacing:… always excited with new toys, after that the excitement dies down… for now, really enjoying the video quality , so nice the richness in colours & depth, feels like jumping from 12 bit colours to 16bit colours . Watched some documentary on nature also , really drool man

This is the first time the calibration on HDR turns out very nicely, partly thanks to calman and LG collaboration as well.

Now just continue to watch all the dramas, movies etc

I will be excited as well…especially during this period. The reason why I am videophile first and audio second is because video has a more “direct” impact compared to audio. I’m pretty sure you will continue to be awed by the PQ of this laser projector for years to come

Wow, pq looks great man. Im sure its even better real life hehe.

If it can achieve this pq at this price point, it’s quite a no brainer to leap for it.

Winthur - just go for it. At this price, super good investment.

After using the laser PJ, I understand and see the benefits now. Really different when it comes to laser , especially for HDR video. Even for SDR I can see the clear difference. And I’m not even in a bat cave. Those in a batcave will drool, for sure. (Bat cave is like to the extend u can even see your own hand in a pitch black dark room)

Most of the movies are in HDR , LLDV and upcoming HDR 10+ and dolby vision. It makes total sense to go for laser based PJ. I think this is the cheapest laser PJ in the market . There is also the entry level 810 PW, with no option for autocal calibration with calman , but really good value as well. Or maybe there is another laser PJ from JVC and others, not too sure there

But this AU810PB is highly recommended. No regrets at all, and yes, I will be stuck with this PJ for some years now, 3-4 years at least until maybe another New improved LG laser pj is out.

Ya spoke to win win also. Totally worth it

Drool man bro, luckily we have the xrite meter, really handy and I think I’m using it the most. :grimacing:

Very big difference when it comes to PJ calibration, compared to TV. The end results are very satisfying.

We have been really struggling with HDR calibration, not anymore with calman-LG. The next OLED to buy, is also LG’s Evo. The LG firmware is really really good. They are miles ahead of the pack. I’ve now witnessed the quality from LG, pretty convinced . The Koreans have come a long way, well done Korea

Yes. Those are the key benefits. The uniformity of the laser allows a more uniform color presentation and this is especially evident for SDR content. Yesterday night, just finished In the line of fire (remastered in 4K) and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the 4K restoration is for a dated movie. And because it is so pristine, it showed the flaws of poor “cgi-effect”.

Here is a pic for comparison

This below here, is pic taken from oled LG C7

This below instead, is LG AU810PB on 135”

We watching trolls now, so so good the video !

More pics from other source

See the shape of the infinity stones inside, so clear, pic doesn’t look blown out. That’s the sign of good tone mapping

See the richness in red, the YouTube logo red has so much depth

Internals of the car engine, really drool man watching it in person

Man, this is OLED like this PJ, the black levels are deep And stunning , nasa scene

Some from avengers

So natural, beautiful specular highlights and deep blacks, fantastic dynamic tone mapping, this is just from HP only, watching it in person really drool….

Even the gold looks so good

Picture quality is oled like on 135”, damn bloody impressive post calibrated HDR . Never have I had any thoughts that such type of quality is possible from a Projector

Is it just me or the colors seem muted for HDR?
