Really love this movie PQ nice there bro👍

Namaste

Is this another method of calibrating a prj? This the first time I’m seeing this.

Yes…this method is acceptable as long as the colorimeter comes with a diffuser.

Really?? So if my color meter comes with diffuser, I can use this method and put in front my my pj to calibrate?? I’m such a frog in the well!!

So approximately how far should it be placed? Won’t the gray-scale be inaccurate if this the case? Have you done it before?

I use the same colorimeter, and based on the manual it says to measure the Ambient Light Environment.

It can be placed around 2 - 3 feet away. It will not affect the grayscale lar…think of it this way. The diffuser will be like the white screen. Without diffuser, the high intensity of the light shotting from the projector len will make the measurement inaccurate as the sensor in the colorimeter will not be able to take an accurate reading. With diffusor in place, it diffuses the light, allowing the sensor to read properly. Take note, this is ONLY suitable for calibrating SDR (Rec 709). For HDR calibration, one should use the screen method.

Ohh I seeeeee I learnt something. Thanks for enlightenment!

Just another L800 user using ash black / piano finish surface.

@desray bro, see ya later. Can also experience the SDA effect for stereo.

Sure thing…I’m leaving for your place soon.

Puny center speaker to match…
May as well disable the center channel, imo

Ya he wanted to get the L400 already lol. He says “win, cannot ah the center. I cannot take it” lol

Lol… through experience, that will be the start of more replacements…:smiley:

Wish me luck brother lol

Slippery slope…LOL… :joy:

Just reached home. I would like to thank bro Wind for his kind hospitality in hosting me at his place. We spent more time talking about Trinnov software and its capabilities than watching demo clips.

For the very first time, I understand why Trinnov costs that much (>$20K)!!! The marriage between the hardware and the software is simply amazing. It is definitely the “crown jewel” of all things home theatre when it comes to high-fidelity sound. Thanks to bro Wind who patiently showed and explained to me each of the settings + extra features ONLY available on Trinnov and not other rivals. My only gripe is the fact that you will need to fork out extra money to get its proprietary calibration mic which going to set you another grand. This is something that will probably deter many users. But if you have the moola $$$$$, Trinnov Altitude 16 is definitely the one to get. You will not be disappointed with its sound quality. Anything and everything one can possibly think of for sound calibration, chances are, Trinnov has it. So much fun and excitement is filled for those who like to tinker to get the best out of your system.

In addition, I am also very impressed by the LG AU810P 4K DLP projector that comes with Calman calibration s/w. Very impressive HDR imagery. It can hold its weight against some of the big brands like Sony and JVC imo and that’s saying something. Well done LG.

no doubt Trinnov is the king with no rivals on software but DAC seems not as impressive compared to processors at similar price range like Theta.

Seems Lyngdorf audio carries LG AU810P projector, auto cal with Calman sounds interesting…

No comment on the DAC as I’m not sure what DAC Trinnov is using nor do I have any experience with Theta to be able to comment but one thing is certain, perception of sound is subjective to each individual taste and preference. Personally, I do find Anthem ARC sounds good in “my” room setup even after I have heard what Trinnov is capable of but that’s just me. It is hard to quantify sound quality when we have to choose between reference vs preference. For me, always strive for reference first (achieving flat response), then tweak the sound to your liking and not the other around. Some prefer louder (higher SPL) for their subwoofer while others prefer to dig it “deep” causing your heart to skip a beat whenever a T-Rex roar. For me, I’m right in the middle…I don’t like single “digit” LFE as it is just not my cup of tea and my little HT room just simply does not have the “breathing” space to let lose the beast (LFE) making it harder to “tame”. I prefer mid-bass chest slam every time of the day. The elusive mid-bass is what many is after and I’m glad my Anthem is able to do that. I believe Trinnov can do it better if Wind willing to spend “more” time to play with the settings even further.

As for the LG AU810P 4K projector, I’ll let Wind respond.

Thanks for your time in dropping by Desray. We had a good time on our discussions as much as the enlightenment from you on the pj stuffs!

Yes there’s a lot of Individual preference in sound and I guess we all pretty much agrees with that due to the different room vol we lived in.

With that much settings in Trinnov, really need time to determine what you want to do and what you like to hear, it’s limitless for as long as how you want to perceive the sound in HT. That is also one factor why I just choose to self limit on what I set and rather spend more time in enjoying movie than to “calibrating” movie, which we discussed it can really brings out frustration than enjoyment. At times the chore of calibration is just too tiring to think off lol.

I do however, humbly accept your kind comments and will try to find some time to further play with it. Different movie in fact have different settings to optimize the sound, that’s also why having 29 present settings will serve some advantages at some point in playing certain movie genres for demo

I got my pj from ohm sound as I told them that in the event they decide to bring in for sale, I’ll be the first to support them. And so they did.

Thanks desray for the assurance that the colors of my pj is deemed acceptable level after the calibration. This greatly diminish the intent of getting any add on device that may or may not further improve the PQ. Will start to give some thinker on how to make front stage blacker considering any WAF.

Hope it will be even better when I host you the next time round!
