Holding ur hor$e$ for miniLED TV? u might have to wait for 1 more yr or so

the wait is considerably over, when major marques’ 2024 miniLED range is launched over the past few weeks. most of the brands have their highest end makes that would hit pass or close to $5k price tag for a 75inch models. however, out of all these brands, PHILIPS gives the most surprise as their “highest end” is priced to draw attentions that falls between Chinese “Mid-Highs” and Japanese “Mid-Highs”… with SHARP yet to push out their 2024 model that set to be priced around SONY’s 75XR70 range.

here’s the proof of surprise…

…where u could see that the Chinese marques are “priced higher” in consideration to the range where they belong.
in few months time, there would be some price cuts to PHILIPS, but on Chinese marques, the cuts will not be prominent… an observation i see over the last 2yrs.

all 3 models are packed with Quantum Dot layer, and natively 120hz panel.
warranties are 3yrs full/complete.

SHARP’s 2024 XLED miniLED range delayed until December then available locally?

…they better priced strategically then to able to achieve some sales and market penetration, as Philips, together with TCL and HiSense had score a “sharp” piercing headstart already.

PHILIPS mid-end 8000 series miniLED is now available to acquire from big retailers such as Courts and Harvey. expect other giant retailers to follow soon.

on general specs, these 2 PML8669 sized low tier models sports native 60Hz panels. together with Dolby Atmos Virtualization thru the in-built 2.0ch speaker system. GoogleTV OS with 32GB on board capacity.

most mainstream marques have pushed out their miniLED TVs in different range and different pricing segments for consumers acquisition. now left the “supermarket level” marques to make their entry to feed budget hunters’ demands.
however, we have not seen any move from AiWa, CHiQ as well as KONKA, even though the latter 2 had well established their brand support foundation outside SG market.
the brand AiWa had been bought over by a lesser known ODM known as NPC- Guangzhou Xianyou Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd, and their product development had been very slow, in consideration that the only better known brand that they slapped onto a product for sale in international market limits to only AiWa.
the latest development from NPC is miniLED TV that comes in 2 refresh rates, base on native 60Hz and 120Hz panels, currently seems to come in 55" and 65" option. no signs of bigger sized models.

this is a “AiWa” badged miniLED that is recently launched in China domestic market.

this is the ODM’s badged of the same model which could be available in some domestic zone market.

aside from the difference on the panel refresh rate, the rest, including aesthetics would seems to be the same. it would be confusing to buyers if VVDigital, local distributor of AiWa TV choses to bring in both refresh rate models and it’s size variants for distribution and sales.

get ready for the influx of budget friendly miniLEDs that would rock the market!

from XiaoMi! 2 models had been assessed by NEA’s Energy Efficiency department and had scored 4 ticks each, on 55" and 75" assessment sets sent in. once these models are assessed and scored, in 2mths time, the stocks could be ready to be introduced into the market.
hmm… with high-refresh panel spec, i wonder… how will the 75" be priced?

a new size introduced to the 2024 PHILIPS Premium miniLED 9109 range!

a look onto the specs, dimming zones number is not stated as sizes may affect thee numbers, the only difference i can see, is the physical speakers side, 10watts of power against the other smaller “siblings”, that makes me wonder, will this xtra 10watts be the in-built subwoofer?

pity… this new size doesn’t seems to be planned for local market, as local PHILIPS marketing team is generally, very conservative.
the new 85" is currently on sales in Taiwan.

after a 4.5mths wait eversince the announcement, SHARP’s 2024 miniLED XLED range is finally launched!

…@ a price to lure buyers attention on SONY BRAVIA 7 range, but would eventually fail! as the 75" SONY BRAVIA 7 is dropping more than $1000 lesser than what SHARP listed.
certainly some may say that the “pricing” decision made by the conservative Japanese marketing management is a business strategy on how to make a placement of their product in a ranking position in different segments. however, these Japanese “elite thinktanks” seems to be very blind that consumers are exposed to world wide web of information on how their equivalent products are priced elsewhere.
in local scene, SHARP and SONY seems to be the surviving old Japanese Marques known to different generations thru marketing. but, how much confidence does the newer generation consumers have with SHARP in contrast to SONY?
be prepared to suck your own thumb SHARP! if your sight is still as narrow as before… another old Japanese Marque is coming to bite on you, with Chinese Tech of course!

is there anybody from SHARP woke up to their sense that their main competitor is from China, not fellow countryman SONY, to gain a stable stand in local and regional market?
here is how the new SHARP priced against the other 2 QD-miniLED Chinese contestants.

the TCL 2025 range new TVs is not yet refresh/added in Courts portal as well as TCL’s own site. hence, TCL’s 85C8K which supposedly to replace 2024’s 85C855 can’t be found in either Courts portal or TCLSG website. but the TCL 2025’s 85C8K can be found listed in LAZADA/SHOPEE priced above $6k to compete with HiSense 85U8Q that is few blue bills away from $7k.
as there’s not sign of stock available for TCL’s 2025 85C7K across multiple e-tail platforms, the only model i can pull for comparison would be last year’s TCL 85C855 for reference as the specs would likely close to as this year’s C7K.

in the above comparison screen cap, the price on SHARP is yet to be finalized as the discount rate is not yet determined. if SHARP goes price match against HiSense in finalized discount, what SHARP looses out would be 2inch and inbuilt multichannel audio. the latter would also be a win to TCL.

despite the loses, it’s pleasing to see that legacy marques willing to step down from the high ground, waking from their blurry sense where they had been feeling un-threatened from the other competitions in the market. the next legacy marque in focus will be PHILIPS, how will they improved in specs, how will they priced to win back the dissappearing trusts from local buyers, as well as regional.
