Yes. Agreed with Vincent that if the base line blacks is not at 64, then this will affect the calibration results like White Balance, Contrast, grayscale tracking since all the primaries and secondaries derive the values from the reference black and white.
@Ronildoq - dun waste your time calibrating the display for your Xbox Series X for the time being until Microsoft ironed out this kink. Hopefully Microsoft will also roll out the fix for the heat issue and various little problems like disc unable to load and the mechanical “clicking” sound for some of the consoles.
Ya no wonder the brightness is vastly different on the Xbox series x. I actually calibrated for SDR, and I noticed I had to dial down the brightness. What would normally be 52 on the BenQ with ATV4K and Oppo , is now 49 on the Xbox . That grey was visible on SDR as well
I suppose I’ll calibrate for HDR at a later stage, been busy with footers, LAN cable, music stuff recently
Anyway, most importantly the console is up and running for games
Seems like LG TV is your best bet if you wish to get your hands on the latest generation of Xbox console. Microsoft has had formed an alliance with LG to roll out the new Series X OLED TVs to work with Xbox Series X in an optimized gaming experience.
Wow ! This Wonder Woman 2 lightning scene is damn solid, she uses her lasso to latch onto the lightning then swings across , bloody awesome ! Sound effect is solid. Warner Brothers, the bass sounds solid, don’t think it’s gonna disappoint …
Maybe I’m obsessed with lightning
I like the other lightning scene with Aquaman, also damn solid
Definitely, planning to subscribe to Disney + next year, can playback through the series X, looks worth it at $11/month lotsa nice content looking forward to it come 2021!
Left it out, tone mapping takes over on the BenQ, mainly focused on 20,30-80. Not much controls unlike the OLED, so can only focus on the upper and lower ranges
IRE 40 to 70 is actually quite crucial for any image. This is where the APL (Average Pic Level) falls in, this is also why some image has crushed blacks or poor shadow details. Clearly this is more of a limitation for a DLP-based projector. Your IRE 10 also unable to register a “decent” reading? Hmmm…
Yes correct that’s why I didn’t bother with ire10 on the BenQ 5700. The ire 30-80 combination when dialed in perfectly, will balance out the 40-70 IRE range, observations from a few rounds of HDR calibration.
On average the RGB colour temperate will be ok, once these two high Low gain settings are set closely to their target points
This is my shortcut method for calibration, seems to work nicely so far
I guess that’s a workaround. Once you go high-end projection system, you will notice a big difference Besides bigger screen, you need plenty of lumens (light output) to get not just good but great HDR imagery. That’s where laser comes in but the compromise is black levels.
I see , very nice. Wait for prices to drop, will not rule out going for laser PJ. Some compromises in black levels is ok, but most importantly the HDR image must look solid
Have you done a review on the Sony Pj? Haven’t seen your review , but am sure it’s fantastic !
