AVP AVM 70 - Sound solid
AVM 90-?

Ya here in case anyone else wants to know what DAC is in use

The AVM90 uses sabre DAC 9038 pro on all 19 channels ! Stunning indeed! including subwoofer channels. Can’t wait man… dynamic range solid :muscle:t2:

The AVM70 uses Sabre 9038Q2M, not same league as the 9038 pro, implementation cost a lot more on the 9038 pro

The MRX1140 uses sabre 9010K2M

All different but same ESS solution instead of AKM

We have now all confirmed our units, 5 new members will join the anthem family. Can’t wait…

Let’s go…

Looking forward to the brotherhood of Anthem…LoL

Wah becoming anthem forum liao :yum:

Ok back to AVM 70 Speaker setup layout.
There’s an issue i reported to Anthem support which they managed to figure it out for me!

My Sub out 1 is connected to Dual Subs
Sub out 2 is connected to Dual HoverEZE BOSS Platform

Meaning I will only calibrate the subs via Sub out 1 only and do NOT on Sub out 2 before starting ARC Genesis Calibration.
After ARC with delays, time alignment and phase is completed, the webUI will always reset back to only 1 Sub even though everytime i have memory save it via User\installer memory set.

Jamie provided suggestion works! I need to toggle on both Subwoofers on the UNIT MENU itself via speaker setup and NOT on the WEB UI Side.
Once AVP menu is set all will be permanently toggle on with the WebUI SYNC Together.

@Gondon72 do try this - your Web UI settings never retain its value if we align.
Cheers.

bro got to fully utilize it. 9.x.6 !

Here’s the changelog for v1.6.4
Version 1.6.4:

  • Fixed an issue where calibration file download would sometimes fail
  • MRX x40/AVM70/AVM90: fixed an issue where incorrect distances/levels were sometimes used during auto phase leading to incorrect results - this alone justify another calibration!
  • MRX x40/AVM70/AVM90: fine tuned the heuristic that selects the best phase value based on customer feedback
  • Founder 120H: fixed a regression that prevented ARCG from completing a measurement on paired speakers

All related to phase correction…very important update!

seem like need to recalibrate.

Saw the below from ARC Genesis download page. Nice! Can provide feedback after listening to the results.

Yes. You need to redo your calibration for this new version. Just completed my calibration using v1.6.4 and I will say the phase control is now more consistent compared to the previous version. DId a REW graph comparison between v1.6.4. and v1.6.1

The response with ARC (purple) is now more even and flat compared to the previous version orange). My phase is now at 10 degrees for Subwoofer 2 (1 x E110 at the rear of my MLP) with Subwoofer 1 ( 2 x E112 at the front stage) at 0 degree phase.

Played 13 hours demo clip and the bass is more evenly spread out with better seat to seat consistency.

Anthem’s user manual called out that user should try to flat the bass response prior to ARC Cal, bro Desray, did you do that step with REW?

Nope… Lazy to flatten the curve with REW instead I just use the Quick Measure feature in the ARC Genesis to get a relatively good response curve with as little dip (valley) as possible for my 3 subwoofers. This will be what majority of the users will do and it also test out how good the ARC auto phase alignment can work out of the box without much user intervention. I then went ahead to calibrate. ARC will set the desired target curve based on my subwoofer responses and try to provide the best results taking into consideration the interaction it has with my room layout aka room mode. While the REW graph (with ARC) certainly has room for improvement but hearing is believing… Trust me, it sounded great with this auto phase control. This new beta version actually takes longer time to measure the the in room responses and correct the phases at each stage of the phase. You can literally see it in action by invoking the Web UI and select Speakers setting, scroll down to where the subwoofer phases are and see the reading changes in real time.

This just in…

After upgrading to beta v 1.6.4, user might experience some network connectivity issue…and this is true, I find it weird too…so Anthem just released a new firmware update to their Network module in the MRX and AVM.

Network Module Version: 1.109.164

Host firmware 68

  • Fixes an issue where network connections were dropped when powering on a system that had automatic updates enabled

Me also starting to get poisoned very deep here liao… This anthem seems great quality and at a reasonable price point. And comes with 11 ch of internal amplification unlike other non jap avr brands! With a good room eq that has BM included !

But need to check a few things:
Does the mrx1140 allow :

  • time alignment between dual subs?
  • House curve deployment for subs overall response and peq
  • apply hpf for individual subs
  • individ channel vol adjustment after calibration

Thanks to a bro who share this.
V promising for the AVM 90

Wahhhh syok !!

The guys in iTaly got it, usa got it, UK got it… Singapore still waiting….

Waiting for it to reach our shores…

Sometimes come to think of it, it’s good we receive it slightly late, so all the bugs would have been fixed by the time it reaches us, like the above gotta re-do calibration for the folks who got it earlier in Italy, Uk, USA….

Wah nice !

Substantial jump in audio quality

That’s positive… if the AVM70 users are loving every bit of it as it is, can’t imagine how it’s going to be for those AVM90 guys…

I popped one question to the support team on AVM90!

AVM90 will have the dolby codes for rendering 9.1.6!

Man this processor really checks all boxes !

No horse run

Q: Anthem Is the AVM90 able to render 9.1.6? Or is this just software upmix to 15 channels? Discrete / Native 15 channels ?

Great question! The AVM90 can render true content up to 9.4.6 channels. With the introduction of object-based audio formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS X, soundtracks for movies (games and music are also available) no longer need to be mixed for a specific number of channels. So when you see a movie released in Dolby Atmos, for example, you will not see a specification for the number of channels like we used to see for 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1 content. These soundtracks are mixed in such a way that the AV receiver/processor will scale the soundtrack up to the maximum number of speakers used in that specific system, so in the case of the AVM90 the soundtrack will playback across a maximum of 9.4.6 channels. If you are not using the maximum number of speakers supported by the processor and running something like 7.1.4 (for example purposes) that is totally fine. As long as the processor has been configured correctly to reflect the number of channels that are actually in use, the soundtrack will scale appropriately to the number of speakers in actual use. This is the great thing about object-based formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS X, the soundtrack scales up or down to sound correct and take advantage of your exact configuration. This is not at all like when 7.1 came out while the majority of content available was 5.1, the content is widely available across a wide variety of formats from streaming to physical disc and the result is the true surround experience that Home Theater enthusiasts have always wanted. This is a great time to be involved in Home Theater!

With all that being said, for soundtracks that were originally mixed for a specific number of channels (EX: 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1) the AVM90 is also capable of upmixing these signals up to your preferred configuration. However, while quite good and very convincing, this will not be the same experience as the object-based formats now provide. To simplify: Dolby Atmos and DTS X would essentially be the equivalent of discrete/native while the other formats would be upmixed via software (which has come a long way and sounds very good in many cases).

We hope this answers your question and thank you for your support!
