*Official Thread* Anthem AVM 70 & 90 and MRX 540, 740 & 1140

What’s the phase setting after the auto phase adjustment? Can post here.

You can lower the max frequency correction to around 500Hz. This will help with the high freq being too “bright”.

Re-do my calibration again for the 5th time. Mine is set at 4dB though I can go higher I don’t push it. Re-watching The Adam’s Project on Netflix earlier and it sounded superb! Clean, tight bass with seat-to-seat consistency, all thanks to the phase alignment. It did a much better job compared w/o it.

Thanks Desray, will try it later, I setup Rew today (never did any Rew measurement after 1 year), aligned my dual subs before ARC cal, this time it works out well, I love the performance, a clear improvement vs. my old marantz 7009, however, I encountered some issue, after upload to my device, I still see the old settings (distances, levels) in all profile, power off/on also no use, any advice what I missed out?

What do u mean “old settings” in all profile? How many profile did you use? Did you perform the upload to the MRX740? Have you do phase correction?

Old settings referred to yesterday ARC cal (with phase auto alignment), after I upload to 740, all 4 profiles changed to the cal setting (in Speakers tab, settings like level, distance and sub phase all updated), today I tried older version ARC without phase auto alignment, after cal, I uploaded to 740, but this time the level, distance, sub phase all remained unchanged, still the same values as last night

Before you do upload a new ARC file, its always good to remove the old ARC settings first then upload it. Try and let me know.

AN ANNOYANCE BUT HAVE TO DO IT!
Also do take note that the main profile settings like distances and phase settings for the subwoofers will not automatically port over to the other profiles that you activated. ALWAYS remember that after every upload of the ARC settings to the main profile, you will need to go to the settings in the MRX740 like Listener Position to set the distances and go to Bass Management setting to set the Phase values for Subwoofer 1 and 2. I know it is extremely annoying but until Anthem Support do something about it, user will just have to bear with it and make it a routine that for every upload, go through each of the profiles and set those settings to emulate the main profile or else the profile that you have selected for a particular input (source) will sound terrible. The workaround is of course to stick with one profile - i.e. the main profile.

ask a dumb question, if I have a few profiles, how do I know which profile currently I engage? inside “input” check “speaker profile”?

Yes.

My initial phase alignment done with previous distances all went to “zero”
After a reset and redo of the whole ARC and Phase, all r good!:slight_smile:

In fact after my ARC fresh with phase done. the subs bass rely felt " Cleaner". the sub will drive i will say less distortion accurate when play v loud.

I did a room gain of +5db , deep bass boost also at +2db now trying explore now the sub level from -6.5 ( default) to -3.5db now.

To other anthem owners just 2 cents here.
2 cents here my suggestion is to reset the AVP after a fresh firmware upgrade.
Do up a fresh ARC with new Phase alignment. The measurements and distance etc will be accurate.

Good advice…only do it IF the AVR or AVM is not working as intended. There are AVSF members having some wonky values with the calibration results and after they do a system reset, it works.

I’ve 2 sets of speakers and setup 4 profiles…
Strangely the ARC assigned different phase correction to all of them;

I ran 2 measurements
Phase align only for Focals (there’s no option to run separate phase alignment for the different sets of speakers).

That’s what I’m trying to warn everyone…see *Official Thread* Anthem AVM 70 & 90 and MRX 540, 740 & 1140 - #350 by desray

I understand what you are saying but my point is that those are not old/prev numbers.

If ARC only updates the main profile then Profile 2-4 phase settings should remain unaltered (ie prev values).

However in my case these are not prev values and I do not know where it came from. Cud it be randomly generated- but then why,… or cud be just a sw bug.

In any case for my specific situation it makes sense for Profile 3 to be same as Profile 1 since they are the same spkrs;

But for Profile 2&4, they are different speakers in different position/location in the room and and rightfully should hv different values

Seem like the ARC genesis with addition of phase, distance, and time alignment is getting really hot.

Thumbs up to Anthem!

Salute bro good efforts there for your few profiles listening.

played around different settings Anthem offers for whole afternoon, and pretty happy with the sound I got now, thanks Desray for sharing so many useful info so that I can connect 740 wireless with 1st try, and perform ARC calibration smoothly without any issue.

I think Anthem did a great job on the web UI, it is very easy to use, and there are many settings for user to play around. for now, I will settle with current settings and watch movies/concerts for a while, and read AVS Anthem thread and 740 user manual to understand more on different settings, before I re-do another round of calibration, and use REW to get the best out of this unit.

It could be a bug but whatever the case maybe… Just make sure to copy those settings to other profiles. I have already reported it to Anthem support on this and a few other anomalies that I’ve had encountered in the past few days of testing.
