Wechnivag is spot on. There is no benefit with using “foam base” material as bass traps. They not only don’t work in absorbing bass, they suck away the useful high frequencies energy.
My advise is to ditch the foam, if u r serious about quality, but to each their own.
To add to Wechnivag point, the better alternative is to use pressure absorption type of device, like tuned traps. They work very effectively in handling “pressure” instead of “velocity”
We know that corner areas are high in pressure, but Low in velocity. So they are much more effective when we use this approach.
A subwoofer can also deal with pressure, so in the case of a subwoofer, we use a subwoofer to provide the cancellation on a given frequency, this method also work, but involves the use of multiple subs.
Another active device, similar to Subwoofers, like the PSI active bass trap, works as well. But that device works mainly from the broadband frequencies from 20-200hz. So they absorb across the range instead
You will also notice that “pressure based devices” cost more than “velocity based devices” like rockwool, mineral wool so on
The benefits are huge, when u use the right material and the right approach to tackle the room problems
